Red Cross share with Year 6

Posted on August 31, 2017

Our Year 6 students are continuing their conversations about homelessness in our local region. Last week they were visited by two representatives from the Red Cross, Ron and Marty, who shared about their experience working with disadvantaged young people.

Students were able to gain a greater understanding of the challenges many face sleeping on the streets, including packing a bag with very little time and sleeping with little-to-no bedding.

Students also learned that 95% of homeless people don’t actually live on the streets, but often couch-surf or sleep in vehicles.

We are very fortunate to have these “experts” share with us. Thank you Red Cross for the great work you do, and for sharing with our students.
