WHAT LEARNING LOOKS LIKE

A St Paul’s Junior School student finishes Year 6 with a unique perspective on the world and a determination to make a positive difference in it.

Students have the opportunity to learn a range of skills such as coding, business planning, design technology, but also grow dispositions such as design thinking, and inquiry learning.

Case Study: Solar Buddies

As part of our unique Immersion Study Time program, students develop transferable skills that span multiple curriculum areas. The ‘solar buddies’ project sees Year 6 students assess a real world problem, design a solution, prototype, test and eventually roll out a product.

The result was an assessable piece of work that crossed science, geography, maths, chemistry, physics and religion and values education engaging creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. Students developed a solar powered light that offered practical help to those in less fortunate parts of the globe.

MEET RILEY

Our students learn to think like entrepreneurs from the beginning of their St Paul’s journey and if they have a business idea, age is no barrier to becoming a CEO. Year 5 student, Riley Barrat, started his own business – an AirBnb for pets service. Riley has been coached through the St Paul’s Centre for Innovators and Entrepreneurs as to how he can grow his business, better market his services, think about product innovations and analyse his customer segments. He’s also learning about profit and loss and other practicalities of running a business. Not bad for someone who only just turned 11.
