JUNIOR SCHOOL (PREP – YEAR 6)

Junior School at St Paul’s provides the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.  Students develop both a strong grasp of the basics while also learning to free their minds to new possibilities and ideas.

WHAT LEARNING LOOKS LIKE

A St Paul’s Junior School student finishes Year 6 with a unique perspective on the world and a determination to make a positive difference in it.

Students have the opportunity to learn a range of skills such as coding, business planning, design technology, but also grow dispositions such as design thinking, and inquiry learning.

In the words of recently-graduated Year 6 student, Logan Stansfield: “I love learning at St Paul’s because it’s really exciting.  I’m encouraged to be creative and get so many opportunities to try new things.”

Case Study: Solar Buddies

As part of our unique Immersion Study Time program, students develop transferable skills that span multiple curriculum areas. The ‘solar buddies’ project sees Year 6 students assess a real world problem, design a solution, prototype, test and eventually roll out a product.

The result was an assessable piece of work that crossed science, geography, maths, chemistry, physics and religion and values education engaging creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. Students developed a solar powered light that offered practical help to those in less fortunate parts of the globe.

MEET ANIKA

Year 7 student Anika Foster has just finished Junior School and is a bright, charming and engaging student. Anika was Vice Captain of Junior School at St Paul’s and has tried her hand at almost everything imaginable. Whether it was hosting overseas students as part of Round Square, representing the School in netball and basketball, playing a musical instrument, starting her own business or building sustainable lights for women in the developing world, Anika has begun creating her own story with a bang!
