Innovation
From the Head of Innovation Learning
Innovation can be defined as a new product, idea, process or approach that enhances the context within which we work. The learning area of Innovation will work to encourage students from P to 12 to explore innovative ideas, processes and approaches to support and enhance learning and thinking throughout all areas of their education at St Paul’s School. Teachers will be empowered to facilitate this innovation through themselves, exploring innovative concepts and methods to maintain and enrich the students learning and thinking within their everyday learning space.
The impact on students learning within the area of Innovation will be based around a number of key values and ideas:
To create an innovative learning environment for students that both encourages and enriches critical thinking and problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation.
- Provide learning experiences that are authentic and relevant for students in the 21st Century, challenge the traditional, go beyond the norm and explore the impossible.
- Immerse students in innovative technologies, techniques and processes.
- Adopt a learner-centred environment where the teacher is facilitating and mentoring the students learning, encouraging them to be independent thinkers.
The vision for learning within the area of Innovation is for St Paul’s School to become pioneers in sustainable and innovative student learning and thinking, which is underpinned by technological practice.
